The Homecoming

I wrote this about a year ago about a boy I like, but over time, it has become about two boys I like.
----
Girl: Sydney
Boy: Hunter

Sydney has had a crush on Hunter for almost two years. He has talked to her a few times, mainly for projects at school. Hunter is on the basketball team and Sydney plays guitar in her band. Neither are very popular in school, but Sydney is a wallflower. They're both sophomores.

Homecoming is coming up quickly Sydney sees this as her chance. She asks Hunter to homecoming one day during lunch. Hunter replies, "Sorry, I can't." Sydney is hurt, but she's learned that the best way to deal with pain is to get over it.
So she goes to the dance by herself. It's raining, which fits her mood. She looks gorgeous in her red silk dress and hair done up. She's a vision, but noone notices. She grabs some punch and chills on the side, kind of moving to the beat, wishing Hunter was there, wondering if she could get her money back.
Her teacher comes up to her and they talk for a while. Sydney's back is to the entrance. As the teacher walks away, the door opens. Sydney turns around to see Hunter standing there, dripping wet, and breathing hard. He sees her and they both smile.
See, Hunter had been laying at home, staring at her picture, wishing he was with her. It had really hurt him to turn her down, but he didn't feel like he was special enough to be with her. Suddenly, his feet took over, he stood up and ran out of the house, through the town and arrived at the dance. Once he realized where he was, he went inside, looking for her.
They walked to each other and kissed in the middle of the dance floor.
